Saramba Kandeh is an International Human Rights Lawyer with over 15 years of domestic and international experience in grassroots justice delivery, international legal advocacy, and policy advising. As Senior Partner at Marrah & Associates, she brings over a decade of global expertise in international legal advocacy to the firm’s practice. She oversees associate and pupil lawyers in gender-sensitive lawyering, international legal research, and strategic litigation, leading the firm’s engagement in cross-border cases and positioning it as a forward-thinking, globally aligned practice.
Internationally, Saramba has served as Legal and Gender Advisor for AIDS-Free World’s Code Blue Campaign since 2016, addressing impunity for sexual offences by UN personnel and advocating for people living with HIV/AIDS in The Gambia. Her prior roles in Sierra Leone include Deputy Director of Timap for Justice, Supervisor of the Human Rights Clinic, Fourah Bay College, and Duty Counsel at AdvocAid, focusing on legal aid, human rights education and legal representation for marginalised clients. In addition to her legal work, Saramba is a peace and security practitioner. She coordinates the African Leadership Centre (ALC) Alumni Association and serves on the ALC Board of Trustees. From 2018 to 2021, she served on the Technical Committee of the Tana High-Level Forum on Security in Africa.
Saramba holds an LL.M. in International Human Rights Law from the University of Notre Dame Law School and was called to the Sierra Leone Bar in 2009. She is an alumna of the Women, Peace, and Security Fellowship of the African Leadership Centre, King’s College London.
